Manager, Commissioning

The Commissioning Manager provides expertise, technical guidance, scheduling and utilization in the commissioning work of the organization. This is a key role that is responsible for performing commissioning management activities, managing the commissioning department and also providing assistance in developing business opportunities with new and existing clients.

Responsibilities


Business Development

  • Developing relationships with Clients to foster goodwill and business
  • Assist manager in exploring opportunities for value-added services and new markets
  • Assist manager in preparation of fee proposals, when required


General Management

  • Provide leadership on project resource planning and scheduling
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, coaching and development of staff
  • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way
  • Possess excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate


Production

  • Act as a technical resource for the commissioning team
  • Ensure that commissioning projects are delivered successfully, to an appropriate level of quality, on time and to budgets
  • Facilitate coordination and communication within commissioning team, and with other teams, to support smooth day-to-day operations and improvement activities, including sharing resources between teams
  • Perform as Commissioning Manager on projects
  • Schedule, attend and record commissioning meetings
  • Schedule commissioning, testing and balancing activities
  • Review design drawings and shop drawings for compliance with commissionability requirements
  • Witness pre-commissioning activities
  • Witness commissioning activities
  • Witness testing and balancing
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and suggest actions to remedy deficient performance
  • Contracting experience with responsibility of installation of systems will be an advantage
  • Remain familiar with latest testing and measurement instruments and methods
  • Ensure commissioning files are maintained in an organized and up-to-date fashion in accordance with company standards
  • Prepare Commissioning Plans, Condition Surveys and other reports as required for the commissioning projects


Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (B.Eng./B.Tech.)
  • Strong working knowledge of commissioning standards such as BSRIA, CIBSE, ASHRAE etc.
  • LEED/PQP/QSAS Accreditation is an advantage
  • Member of Engineering Societies (UAE Society of Engineers, ASHRAE, CIBSE etc.)
  • At least 12 years of experience including a minimum of five years in Dubai/UAE
  • Experience with reading and reviewing Mechanical, Electrical and ELV drawings.
