Manager, Commissioning

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for business development, management of Commissioning team and projects, and implementation of associated field work.

Responsibilities


Business Development

  • Oversee the creation of Proposals and Fee Letters as assigned
  • Approve all Proposals, Fee Letters, and Additional Service Requests in the Division
  • All fee letters over $50K must be signed by Principal/Section Head
  • Develop relationships with clients that foster ongoing revenue generation, goodwill and business
  • Explore opportunities for value added services and new markets


General Management

  • Ensure that all direct reports are scheduling their workload appropriately, maximizing productive time, and allowing all employees to meet expectations
  • Provide insightful and enthusiastic leadership, paying attention to employee morale
  • Lead the performance management process including annual reviews
  • Create, review, and approve procedures
  • Work with the heads of all functional areas to solve inter-departmental problems
  • Interview, train, motivate, and supervise all direct reports
  • Participate in strategy sessions


Production

  • Attend, participate in and/or lead various meetings
  • Act as the first level of escalation for client and staff issues within the Division
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and design standards
  • Ensure that the Division is staying on track and on schedule
  • Facilitate coordination and communication within the Field Services Division to support smooth day-to-day operations and improvement activities
  • Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with all direct reports
  • Inform direct reports of any upcoming scheduling issues
  • Lead the creation of the Division’s contribution to the company fiscal budget
  • Monitor actual performance against the estimate and take action as required to bring work back on schedule, working with direct reports
  • Prepare and review regular production reports
  • A resource for all project management questions in the Division, and undertake peer reviews
  • Technical resource for all engineering questions in the Division
  • Work with Business Development to ensure effective and informed communication to prospective clients
  • Liaise with Integrated Services to identify possible Integrated Services initiatives
  • Act as Project Manager as required
  • Forecast staffing requirements


Skills & Qualifications

  • P.Eng or C.E.T. required, with at least 10 years’ experience in the Building Commissioning industry
  • Professional Designation (BCxP, CPMP, CBCP, CCP, CEM)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior management role
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to represent the company at social and networking functions
  • Excellent presentation skills – comfortable speaking in client/project meetings
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Ability to think independently
  • Systems oriented – able to review, revise and create process changes within the Division
  • Proven team leadership capabilities
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to coach and mentor direct reports
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Currently possess or are able to obtain a government security clearance
