The HIDI Group provided mechanical consulting engineering services for the $249 million St. Thomas Consolidated Courthouse for Infrastructure Ontario as an AFP contract. Designed by NORR Limited, the scope of work included 120,000 ft² of new construction and 33,000 ft² of heritage renovation/restoration to the existing 1850’s facility. Retaining the historical architectural design features was one of the main priorities of this project. The newly minted edifice in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, houses eight courtrooms and three conference / settlement rooms. Initially designed to target LEED Silver certification, the new Elgin County Courthouse has exceeded expectations and achieved LEED Gold certification.
