Mike has been a part of the HIDI team since 2007, when he graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Engineering. With a passion for energy efficient buildings and sustainable design, he is actively involved with the Toronto ASHRAE Chapter, has spoken at various ASHRAE and CaGBC leadership events, and was instrumental in HIDI’s recognition as a PowerStream Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Champion for advancement of sustainable design. Mike has led the mechanical design of innovative retail, commercial and mission critical facilities, including RBC WaterPark Place, Toronto’s first LEED Platinum Core and Shell certified commercial tower. He is currently leading the Park Hyatt Redevelopment, as well as the 2 Queen Street West Revitalization.
Leo joined the team in 2014 as a Senior Electrical Lead with a portfolio of work in the performing arts, entertainment, mixed-use, commercial, education, institutional and pharmaceutical sectors. His technical diligence and leadership skills have graced projects such as Casino Niagara, Four Seasons Madrid, the Toronto Eaton Centre Sears Redevelopment and Nordstrom Façade, Ryerson University Student Learning Centre, and Nathan Phillips Square Revitalization, which was recently awarded the Governor General’s Award in Architecture. At the present time Leo is working on the revitalization of the historic Bata Shoe Factory and University of Toronto University College, Four Seasons Montreal, various projects for the City of Toronto, and various co-generation plant implementations throughout the province of Ontario.
Thanks to their distinct blend of technical expertise, management capabilities and client care, we are thrilled to promote Mike and Leo to Principals of The HIDI Group.
Jennifer joined The HIDI Group in 2012 as a marketing and communications specialist with a passion for design, architecture and real estate locally and abroad. With 10 years of experience in marketing, communications and account management, she holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and International Business from the Schulich School of Business and a Digital Media Certificate from OCAD University. At HIDI, Jennifer has led design strategy for both traditional and digital initiatives, corporate rebranding, the launch of ALULA Lighting Design, and the search for business opportunities. Jennifer has also facilitated a series of Design Thinking workshops for the team.
Given her industry insight and commitment to quality and continuous improvement, we are pleased to promote Jennifer to Marketing Director.
Jimmy has acted as mechanical group lead at HIDI since 2013, when he joined the team. His experience in the mechanical building services industry includes an array of commercial, retail, institutional and healthcare projects including work for the Ministry of Education, Canadian Imperial Bank of Canada, Salesforce, Metro News, Bentall Kennedy, Cadillac Fairview and York University. Recent projects include RBC Headquarters at RBC WaterPark Place, the leading-edge Cisco Canada Canadian Headquarters and Customer Experience Centre, and the new General Motors Research and Development Facility.
Shaun joined The HIDI Group in 2015 and offers particular acumen with regards to the management of client projects. He has over 15 years of experience in the mixed-use, commercial, education, performing arts, institutional, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, with a portfolio of work that includes Corus Entertainment’s Corus Quay Headquarters, the Aga Khan Museum, McMaster University Wilson Building, and a number of projects for the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Recent projects include the AVIVA Canada and High Liner Foods Headquarters, General Motors Research & Development Facility, and a number of projects for Ryerson University and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
Stephen (Steve) has been an integral part of the HIDI team since 2004. With over 25 years of experience as a designer and manager, he has worked on the Lester B. Pearson International Airport, Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Minacs International. Recent work includes clients such as Cadillac Fairview, Sanofi Pasteur, Ryerson University, Ontario Lotto and Gaming Corporation, Rogers Communications, Menkes Developments, and The Daniels Corporation. He is currently working on a number of projects at the Toronto Eaton Centre, Tivoli Theatre and Condominium, and SkyCity Winnipeg – a mixed-use residential tower that is slated to be the tallest building between Toronto and Calgary.
