The 320,000ft² BMO Barrie Computing Centre is located on a 25 acre piece of land in the Mapleview West Business Park in Barrie. The centre serves as a customer data disaster recovery centre for the Bank of Montreal. The facility (designed by WZMH Architects) called for a 60,000 ft² data centre and corresponding 80,000 ft² central utility building, 120,000 ft² office, and an atrium.
Working closely with the BMO, PCL and the design team, The HIDI Group provided mechanical, plumbing and commissioning by HRCx. The BMO Barrie Computing Centre is the first data centre in North America to achieve a Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute and has a redundancy rating of 2N+1 and was completed twenty-one months after the initial kick-off design meeting.
