At The HIDI Group, we have always placed importance on ownership and transparency – as a 100% employee owned company, we enable our team to play a vital part in the firm’s direction, decision-making, and sharing of our founding principles and values.
George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus Student Residences were initially designed as part of the 2015 Pan Am Games Athletes’ Village and were converted to student residence following the closing of the Games. KPMB architects designed the 132,000 ft2 residence valued at $247 Million.
The HIDI Group provided mechanical, electrical, communications, A/V and security design for the 220-suite LEED Gold residence. The mechanical scope included design of HVAC, building automation, fire protection and plumbing while electrical design covered power distribution, energy saving lighting, life safety and backup generators. Communications and AV provided Fibre to the home (fast broadband connection) for every suite, up to Gigabit Ethernet, symmetrical, IPTV (Cable TV over Ethernet) in all areas of the buildings, Wi-Fi in the public areas, digital signage displays, and a paging and announcement system throughout the residence.
