The HIDI Group is providing mechanical, electrical, communications, security, audiovisual, and energy services for Niwaas Long Term Care, a 3-storey, 165,376 ft² facility in Brampton, Ontario. Scheduled to open in 2027, Niwaas will be Ontario’s first Sikh-Punjabi-focused long-term care home, a ground breaking initiative designed to meet the cultural, spiritual, and social needs of its residents.

This 160-bed facility will provide an environment where seniors can live with dignity and connection, supported by features such as Punjabi-speaking staff, culturally tailored programming, and familiar meal options. In addition to its residential spaces, Niwaas will include a dedicated Alzheimer’s and Dementia wing with a memory care garden and innovative care models like the Butterfly and SPECIAL Methods.

Sustainability is at the heart of the design, with construction incorporating Cross Laminated Timber and prefabricated exterior wall panels to reduce environmental impact. Niwaas represents a new standard for culturally responsive care and community-driven development, combining heritage, compassion, and forward-thinking design to create a lasting impact for generations to come.
