Place des Arts located in Sudbury, Ontario will be Northern Ontario’s first multi-disciplinary arts and culture centre. The 60,000 ft2 centre will be home to eight different cultural organizations. The building will include a 299 seat theatre, a 150 seat gallery, which will house the Galerie du Nouvel-Ontairo, three costume and prop workshops, a youth studio and three artist studios for in residence artist. In addition to the creative space will include a bistro, two meeting rooms, and space for administrative offices. The design of the building is the result of a joint venture between Sudbury architecture firm Yallowega Belanger Salach and Toronto based Moriyama & Teshima.
HRCx is providing commissioning for the art centre.
