The William G. Davis meeting place has become the place for students to congregate and since it’s opening very little has changed. The multi-phased project, which included a feasibility/schematic design in the first phase of the project, also included a new redesigned meeting space, food services area, student services plaza and a new front entrance to the building. In addition to refreshing the space, the design increased seated space to 900 seats from its prior 400, and also included new and renovated washrooms, including new all gender, barrier free and multi-stall men’s and women’s washrooms.  The total size of the project is 46,620 ft² (26,700 ft² of meeting area and 23,400 ft² of exterior / entrance space).

Audiovisual (AV) also included an outdoor performance and assembly area audio reinforcement system based around digital Dante audio and digital mixers, running over standard Ethernet. Multiple audio inputs and outputs are located in weatherproof boxes for year round operation.

ALULA provided lighting design which included a complete renovation of the student Food Court, gathering spaces, meeting space, and outdoor landscape area.  Our lighting design team worked closely with the Architectural team to provide lighting solutions that were modern and architecturally integrated, in particular the feature “Meeting Space” which is illuminated by a custom 60ft by 60ft trellis integrated architectural lighting system.
