A new addition to the UTSC campus, the 134,216 ft2, five storey Highland Hall will provide the campus with additional space dedicated to students and providing community access space. The Perkins & Wills designed faculty is located between the UTSC Student and the East Arrival Court.
The building will house faculty and administrative offices, student services, lounges and event and study spaces. It will also provide two state-of-the-art tiered classrooms, a technologically advanced Centre for Teaching and Learning for academic skills training, Student Commons, and multi-use. The primary use will be a new home for Social Science departments (political science, sociology, anthropology, human geography and critical development studies) and the Office of the Registrar. The new building boasts a large green roof that is visible from the interior and a Eco Garden.
Commissioning for UTSC’s new building was provided by HRCx. The scope included the commissioning of HVAC, building automation and controls, electrical systems for power distribution & protection and lighting controls. A general review of life safety inline with OBC 3.2.4.6 University Fire Prevention.
